You’re out on a walk with your dog and they just have to stop to munch on the grass. It's not uncommon and can be safe. Some believe that dogs eat grass to induce vomiting when they have upset stomachs. Others don't agree with this belief. Either way, outdoor grass is normally treated with pesticides.

This can be potentially harmful to your pet. According to Dog Health, It's “possible that your dog could ingest parasite eggs deposited on the grass when another dog previously used it as a place to defecate”.

First thing's first, wheatgrass is to be given to your pet as a treat and not as a meal.

Always place a bowl of water nearby.

Feed at the quantity that is best for your pet. There really is no guide to this, just feed relative to their meals.

1. Place it near their play or feeding area, some pets just love chewing on grass.

2. It can be added to your pet's meal as a topper or gravy.

3. Wheatgrass can be chopped up and given as a training treat.

4. Juice the wheatgrass to add to their water. You can even freeze it into ice cubes.

5. Use a coffee or meat grinder to add to their daily meal.

6. For the picky eaters, Mix or mash the grass with their favorite food or treat.
